SkyBug carrying
video camera and downlink radio
|
My SkyBug version for 2005; reconfigured from tri-motor to single motor and equipped with a video camera with radio down link (Low Power Device on 2.4 GHz).
NO - it is not simulated machine guns on the wing leading edges, the wooden dowels are the TriBug motor mounts....
Motor package is now a GWS unit. 300 size motor (EM300) with a 1:4.43 gear and a
GWS 9 x 4.7 propeller and rubber spinner. Motor mount is made of a pice of lite ply and a short hard balsa stick. Could not be more simple...
The power output from this package is impressive. 3 LiPo cells (1500 Kokam) produces about 500 grams of thrust, max current is 11 A. Half power is enough, even in hard winds.
The total weight, including camera unit, is 530 grams. This is within the maximum weight of 560 grams, according to the specification from the designer of the SkyBug, Graham McAllister. Without the payload the weight is reduced to 460 grams. (With 500 grams of thrust, this should be an aerobatic model without the extra weight....)
