Writing orders When writing orders, there are a few things you have to remember. 1. Always specify the unit type (F for fleet, A for army). Elsewhise the unit will misorder. 2. Make sure you order all units. Write "Holds" or "Stands" on the units that don't move. Everything to make sure you don't forget any unit. 3. When supporting someone else's units or unit movements, always include which other player you are supporting. Example: A Ton S CHINESE A Can - May 4. ALWAYS specify coast when moving a fleet to (and from) a space with two coasts. 5. Make sure you write the correct abbreviation for the spaces. If a misunderstanding is possible, the unit will misorder if the abbreviation is wrong. If you feel unsure about the abbreviations, write the full name of the province. 6. (Colonial only) Remember to write the extra orders required in some spaces on the map. To use the Trans Siberian Railroad - write for example A Mos - TSR - Vla. To allow a unit of another power to move through the Suez Canal - write for example F Egy s ENGLISH F reds - meds. Retreats: When writing orders, make sure you include retreats in your orders. Think about what COULD happend, and then write where your units will retreat if that happends. Remember that if there are no retreats included in the last set of orders sent in, the units will be disbanded if forced to retreat. Example: Retreats (France): F Coc - Ann/Gos/Cam A Ban - Ran/Mal/Nsi/Cam A May - Can/Ran/Ton/Nsi/Ubur/Yun F Ton - Can/Ann/SouS A Ann - Ton/Coc/Cam, unless Holland moves F LS - SouS, then retreat to Coc/Cam/Ton If the retreats are written like this, the first unit written is the one with highest priority, and the first center is the first choice to retreat to. If Canton is empty and both A May and F Ton are forced to retreat, A May will retreat to Canton since it is placed higher on the list of units. The same thing goes for builds. Be sure to send conditional builds! Example: Builds and Disbands (France): Build: F Coc, A Ann, F Ton, unless Holland moves F LS - Sous, then build F Ann, F Coc, A Ton. In this example, if France manages to build two new units, the units built will be F Coc and A Ann, unless Holland moves as described, then France will build F Ann and F Coc. Of course, if Ann or Coc should be occupied, France will build a unit in Tonking. Back to rules |
